Technical Description
The YT-3300 is the baseline aluminium model of the YT-3300 smart positioner family, and the one to order unless something about the installation forces you elsewhere. Its housing is aluminium die-casting finished in epoxy polyester powder coating and it weighs 2 kg. On a sliding-stem valve it mounts to the right-hand yoke of the actuator. Together with the YT-3350 it is one of only two variants in the family that will take limit switches — mechanical or proximity — either on their own or combined with a 4-20 mA position transmitter. It also carries the widest choice of conduit entry in the family: G(PF) 1/2, NPT 1/2 or M20 × 1.5P.
Inside, a microprocessor drives a torque motor. Auto-calibration sets the travel, PID gains are adjustable from the front panel without a communicator, and an adjustable partial stroke test can be triggered locally from the four pushbuttons or remotely over the loop. Boot time after a momentary power interruption is 0.5 seconds, which limits how far the valve can drift before control resumes.
Choosing between the YT-3300 and its siblings
Every model in this family shares one electronics platform: 4~20 mA DC input, max. 500 Ω impedance, minimum current 3.2 mA (3.8 mA with HART), 0.14 to 0.7 MPa supply, IP66 and Type 4X (FM), HART rev. 7, SIL 2 certification, ±0.5% linearity and hysteresis, 70 LPM flow at 0.14 MPa and below 2 LPM air consumption at idle. What differs is housing, mounting side and the option list:
- YT-3303 — same aluminium body and weight, but its linear version mounts on the left-hand yoke, and it is the only model with a field-adjustable variable orifice instead of plate-type orifices. Its option list stops at a position transmitter; no limit switches.
- YT-3350 — stainless steel 316, 5.1 kg, uncoated, for corrosive service. Same options as the YT-3300, but only one conduit/air combination (G 1/2 with NPT 1/4).
- YT-3301 / YT-3302 — the remote-sensor version. The feedback sensor separates from the positioner body on a cable of up to 20 m, letting the electronics sit away from heat or vibration; the sensor itself is rated -40 to 120 °C.
Put simply: start at the YT-3300; go to the YT-3303 if the yoke geometry puts the positioner on the left, the YT-3350 if the atmosphere will eat aluminium, and the YT-3301 if the mounting point is too hot or shakes too much for the electronics.

Typical application
The YT-3300 is the positioner to fit where the valve is important enough to instrument properly. In oil & gas service the combination we quote most often is a YT-3300 with HART and a proximity limit switch on a control valve that also carries a shutdown function — HART gives the maintenance team travel histograms and deviation alarms from the asset management system, and the partial stroke test proves the valve will still move without taking the process off line. The switch provides a hard-wired position confirmation that does not depend on the loop.
In sugar and cement plants the same unit goes on the handful of valves whose failure stops the train: boiler feedwater and main steam, kiln fuel, and the big evaporator control valves. The LCD and four-button interface matter there, because it means a fitter can auto-calibrate and re-range a spare on the bench without a laptop or a HART communicator. Feed it through a YT-200 or, on a large double-acting actuator, a YT-220 filter regulator.
