Rotork YTC YT-1000R Rotary Electro Pneumatic Positioner

Technical Description
The YT-1000R is the quarter-turn positioner in the YT-1000 family. Position is sensed through a feedback shaft turning across a 0 to 90° arc — not a lever tracking a stem — and the coupling to the actuator is ordered as a threaded arm (M6 × 34L, M6 × 63L, M8 × 34L, M8 × 63L) or as a NAMUR connection that bolts to the standard VDI/VDE 3845 pad found on almost every modern rack-and-pinion and scotch-yoke actuator. If the valve rotates, this is the model; if the stem slides, it is not.
It shares the family core — 4 to 20 mA DC input at 250 ± 15 Ω, 0.14 to 0.7 MPa supply, IP66 aluminium diecasting, direct/reverse action and split range by adjustment, auto/manual switch, no resonance from 5 to 200 Hz — and weighs 2.8 kg.
How the YT-1000R differs from the YT-1000L and YT-1050
- YT-1000L — the linear equivalent, 2.7 kg. Its feedback linkage is a lever and stroke pin sized to the valve travel over four bands from 10 to 150 mm, and its internal option list stops at a 4-20 mA transmitter with or without an LCD. Use it on sliding-stem globe, gate and diaphragm valves.
- YT-1050 — the stainless steel 316 body, orderable in either motion type, 5.71 kg. Better metallurgy, but the ordering code drops the transmitter, limit-switch and dome-cover options entirely and offers a narrower set of hazardous-area certifications and only one conduit/air connection combination.
The YT-1000R’s own distinguishing feature is the breadth of its accessory list. Beyond the base positioner it can be ordered with a dome cover, and with a 4-20 mA position transmitter or a limit switch — each internal or external — or with transmitter and limit switch together. Internal transmitter and internal limit-switch options are only available on a non-explosion-proof positioner; on a certified unit, specify the external versions.

Single and double acting versions are both available, which matters on quarter-turn service: many rack-and-pinion actuators are double acting and need both chambers driven.
Typical application
Quarter-turn control valves are where this positioner lives. On cement plants that means damper and slide-gate control in the preheater and cooler circuits, and butterfly valves on cooling water and compressed air. In pipe and eternit manufacturing, it is butterfly valves on slurry and water lines. In oil & gas gathering and processing it is ball and plug valves on modulating duty, generally on a double-acting scotch-yoke actuator with the positioner mounted to the NAMUR pad.
The two accessories that get specified most often alongside it are a limit switch — so the DCS gets a hard-wired open/closed confirmation independent of the control loop — and an external 4-20 mA transmitter for true position readback on a valve that is critical to throughput. Where the actuator is large and strokes fast, feed it through a YT-220 air filter regulator rather than a 1/4 in unit, so the regulator is not the restriction. If the loop needs digital diagnostics, HART or partial stroke testing rather than analogue control, step up to the YT-3300 smart positioner.
